Abdullah Bazid
Abdullah Bazid (b. 1955) assumed various key position both in general and functional management. He focused in his career with SABIC on the development and growth of SABIC both organically and through M&A. Among his assignments is the development and execution of the first flexible cracker projects in Saudi Arabia. In addition he played a key role in developing SABIC capability in technology development and project management. He assumed various assignments outside Saudi Arabia including USA, Japan, UK, Italy and the Netherlands.
In the year 2001 he assumed responsibility for developing SABIC business in Europe through the acquisition of DSM Petrochemical Business and later Huntsman Petrochemicals in the UK. At the same time he managed the integration of the acquisition and assumed various high level roles to ensure the expansion of SABIC business in Europe.
In the year 2007 he lead an effort to acquire GE Plastics which was concluded successfully with the financial and legal closing on 31st August.
He has been the Chief Operating Officer of SABIC Europe and the Managing Director of Chemicals and Intermediates business since 2006 and 2003 respectively.
On 1st February 2008 he was appointed to be the Vice-President of Shared Services and recently he became the Executive Vice-President of Corporate Strategy and Planning. and he also serves as the board member in Marafiq, SABIC Innovative Plastics and as well the Chairman of Sharq Board.
